Lagos To Introduce Compulsory Subject For All Students

The Lagos State Government has concluded its plan to implement the teaching of Yoruba language and making it compulsory in all public schools in the state.
According to the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule, who rerepresented Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, at a stakeholders forum on Thursday noted that henceforth the subject would be taught in primary and junior secondary schools across the state.

  • She stated that the subject will make them learn about the culture and the people’s general way of life, adding that is it very important for every Yoruba child to be able to speak the language fluently.
    The deputy governor stressed that the house will aid in making appropriate legislations that would back up government efforts at making Yoruba language a compulsory subject in all schools in the state.
