Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has expressed his belief that the club can qualify for the UEFA Champions League next year.
“It is not going to be easy because City also want to be in the Champions League but we are ready to do it and we will fight for it,” he said. “In the derby we showed that we are a little bit better than them right now, so we can be optimistic because we have a lot to fight for.“We have kept two clean sheets in a row and we are recovering some important players like Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones and competition for places is always good for the team.
“United should be in the Champions League every year. As players we are obligated to fight until the end and we have the quality to be there. City has a bigger squad and some very good players, but right now we can fight against them.”
United face Tottenham on Sunday, and Herrera is not
worried about the high-flying London side. “When we play against a top
team, I am not so worried about our performance because we usually do
quite well,” he added. “The most difficult games for us or when I am a
little bit more worried is when we’re not playing against top teams.”
