“PDP Will Win In 2019” – Goodluck Jonathan

Nigeria's EX President Goodluck Jonathan said that despite the defeat of the 2015 presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will win the next general elections.

The former president said on Monday in Abuja while receiving a report from the DPP's Strategy and Inter-Party Affairs Committee.

He said the ongoing efforts to reform the party are "a clear sign" that the PDP will win in 2019.

Speaking to the team at his House in Abuja, Jonathan said:

    "Yes, we lost the presidential election, but that does not diminish us. All the other parties know that PDP is a leading party."

    "Losing the presidency is something temporary, we should be able to regain that position as long as we are able to unite our actions." I am glad that you people are working towards that.

Mr. Jonathan also congratulated the committee for the report and for the National Guardian Committee led by Ahmed Makarfi for the vision of setting up the committee.

    "This is the only way to strengthen political parties. It's a clear sign that PDP will win in 2019," he said.

Mr. Jonathan was the party's candidate in the 2015 elections, but lost to the opposition candidate at the time, Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress of Progressive Progresses, APC.
