Ocholi’s driver had licence - Colleagues say

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) released a statement last week saying that the driver who drove the Ocholis last week had no license when he was driving them but his colleagues say this is not true. Taiwo James Elegbede was driving the former Minister of State for Labor, James Ocholi, his wife and son when they were involved in a fatal accident.

According to The Tribune, Elegbede's colleagues at the transport department of the Ministry of Labour and Employment said Taiwo is a licensed driver who had served the ministry for over 25 years. They said Taiwo's drivers license expired on January 15th 2016 and he had applied for another one but getting a licence from FRSC takes forever.

The drivers also said the Lexus 570 SUV Taiwo was driving the minister and his family in was not their car but one given to Ocholi from office of the Head of Service and the driver wasn't allowed to examine the car to check its condition and it also wasn't the driver's duty to do any sort of maintenance on the car.

According to Taiwo's colleagues, he had gone for a mechanical/electrical engineering course at the training school in Abeokuta, Ogun State, was a Higher Works Superintendent and was highly professional on his job.
